Words and Their Meaning to Me.

There seems to be a theme running through my spiritual journey lately.  There are words that appear in everything I am reading.  I wrote them down in my Journal today and thought I would share them with you.

First word is  Gratitude.
I have so many things to be grateful for, and focusing on lack does nothing but bring us misery and a lack of contentment.

Second word is Peace,I feel it wouldn't be fair to not add Stillness.
I think these words go together. It is hard to find peace when you are constantly running around!  It often takes stillness to  hear God's gentle voice!

Third would be, Simplicity.
I have been struggling with this word for the last few years.  Paring down, getting back to the basics, tuning out and turning off the media, and commercialism around me.

Fourth would be Order.
A place for everything and everything in it's place.

Fifth would be Harmony.
I think this goes without saying that Harmony follows order.........or at least I think it does.

Last would be Beauty and Joy.
I know beauty is subjective, and what brings joy to one person would not necessarily bring joy to another.  I am talking about the type of joy that is unshakable, that is carried with you wherever you go, no matter what you have or don't have, the kind that only comes from the Lord!  Beauty is all around us, it isn't just in images or what we see, but in what we experience, often times it is overlooked.

These are words that continue to make themselves known to me lately......God is certainly trying to get my attention.  I was up at 7am bright and early doing my devotional, and all these words leapt off the pages of what I was reading.

What do these words mean to you?

  1. It is so unreal how the Lord speaks to us and doesn't stop until we get it. I think we all have to learn to listen. All of your words mean the same to me as they do to you. Being content in our circumstances is not always easy, but if we are it shows we are grateful and also trusting in the Lord. God Bless, hope your day is serene. Hugs, Marty
